What are they?
An orthotic is a device worn in your footwear to make your feet function more normally and are usually prescribed to reduce pain, not only
in the foot but in the knee, hip and lower back. Podiatrists are trained in prescribing custom made orthotics specific to your feet.

How are they made?
At North West Podiatry, orthotics are made taking a digital impression of your feet using a an iPad with a 3D optical scanner . Your scan is sent by email to a specialised lab in Perth and then couriered direct to you. Your orthotics are made with the individual in mind, very similar to glasses being prescribed for your eyes by an optician.

How do they work?
Orthotics gently alter the way you walk reducing the strain on soft tissues, muscles and joints with
the aim to reduce pain and make your gait more efficient.

Your custom made orthotics are priced as a ‘case fee’ and your private health fund usually rebates some of the cost that includes:

  • A biomechanical assessment to look at your hips, knees, feet and the way that you walk

  • Assessment of your footwear to see if it is helping your foot health

  • Enquiry about your lifestyle to see how best to prescribe your orthotics

  • Digital scan of your feet

  • One pair of custom made orthotics from a personalised prescription

  • 3 month follow up (at no further cost) to ensure their comfort

Your Podiatrist will assess your feet and the need for orthotics following your intitial appointment.
Orthotics prescribed through North West Podiatry are customised to each individual with attention given to lifestyle and
what shoes they will be worn in. Custom-made foot orthotics are an investment in your foot health and general well-being.

Make your appointment today, your feet will love you for it!
